D.R. Horton is bringing a popular set of floor plans to its Alderbrook community in High Point.The three-year-old neighborhood already features three design series, but the four Carolina Collection floor plans are being introduced to offer homebuyers a lower price point, says Alicia LaPaglia, builder representative at Alderbrook. The plans have sold well at other communities D.R. Horton has built in the Triad.

The Arts and Crafts-inspired plans have oversized family rooms; master bathrooms with showers, Roman tubs and double sinks; fireplaces; and a second-floor recreation room, depending on the plan. 

The Carolina Collection floor plans range in size from 2,286 square feet to 3,055 square feet, with prices starting at $196,500. The two-story designs have four or five bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms with two-car garages.

The collection will be built on 52 home sites in the 263-home community. Four homes, representing the four plans in the series, are under construction and will be ready at the end of November, LaPaglia says.

Alderbrook, with amenities including a pool, clubhouse, recreation area and sidewalks throughout, also offers three design series with an English country flair. The Cottage Collection’s two floor plans are 2,225 square feet, and prices start at $212,490. The Vanderbilt Collection, with five available home sites, features six plans, from 2,365 to 4,133 square feet and ranging in price from $227,990 to around $300,000. And the sold-out Greystone Collection’s three plans range from 2,365 to 2,756 square feet.

McCar offers special on basements

McCar Homes is offering what amounts to a free upgrade — basements at no extra cost — through the end of the year at three of its Triad communities: Mendenhall Mill in High Point, Glennstone in Kernersville and Meadow Glen in Clemmons.

According to the building company, the basements are valued at up to $44,000 and add living space that could be used for recreation, fitness, hobbies and other uses.

Homes at all three communities are priced from the mid-$200,000s.
